I have tried home remedies when I was in between dental insurance.Maybe one of these will work for you:
soak a washcloth in vinegar and apply to affected area until pain stops..i used apple cidar because it was all i had but white vinegar is said to work as well..took about 20 minutes but pain went away..

I have also heard the soaking a cotton ball in vanilla exract works wonders.

Clove oil works for pain as well, but you may have to do more than one application.

also alternate motrin with tylenol for swelling, i hope that you get some relief....
before any remedy, rinse out your mouth really good with a salt water mixture...
best of luck

try calling 801-983-0345 or 801-972-2747. There are programs for low-income that you will qualify for due to your job loss. They have free and/or discounted dental fees that are very helpful to those who dont have insurance.

 in response to dentall...

does she have an infection? She may need antibiotics and pain pills will not help with that. She can get examined at any ER and get a script for antibiotics. Places like walmart may give discounts on antibiotics too.

If it is a back tooth, any dentist can do an extraction instead of a root canal - much cheaper and a lot less painful.

Hi.  My wife is in alot of pain because she needs a root canal done but we have no dental insurance and I was previously laid off 3 weeks ago. what can we do?  Is there any way that we can get help now?  Shes crying because of the pain and I have given her pain pills and its just making her sick and not doing anything for the pain.  Any help or comment would be appreciated.  Thank-You
